Food Art: Playing with Food

I like food...a lot. I practically moved to San Francisco because the San Diego food scene was a bore, and have continued to develop my passion for cuisine now that I consider myself an official resident. So when The Bold Italic - one of my favorite blogs - featured a conceptual art project that cut favorite foods in half (well, my favorite foods - like hot dogs, ice cream and noodles) - I had to share.

Cleaning Up

While Ursus Wehrli's work ("The Art of Clean Up") is no spring chicken, it is certainly moving. The tedious work has no doubt gained traction for its unusual perspective, something that can remain timeless as new artists debut more extravagant works. I especially like the fruit bowl - which even goes so far as to separate the dots from the bowl. It's a very interesting retrospective on life and consumption, in my idea.

It always amazes me how creative some people are. Whenever I feel a little glum at work, or need a pick-me-up, I head to some of my favorite design or fashion blogs - these days, everyone is adding a little "DIY" into their lives. 

Though my recent attempt was a little less fantastic than I had hoped {I took serious inspiration from Coco + Kelly designer Cassandra}, I want to keep on trying. Especially after checking out these inspirational pieces from 20x200, an artistic endeavor that makes putting unique art affordably into your home.
